Blur faces and plates in iPhone video

Depth maps from Cinematic mode do not travel to every platform. Pixel-level blur in BGBlur works on the exported H.264/HEVC file creators actually upload.

Night mode ramps ISO; noise can look like texture on plates. Detection still finds high-contrast characters, but spot-check frames with aggressive NR.

For crowd shots at concerts, run face detection first, then decide whether plates matter in the same clip.

Capture tips

  • AirDrop the ‘Most Compatible’ export if HEVC causes downstream gamma shifts.
